going balinese

Finally, Wallace joins the circle of big two zero on 10th June!

Happy Birthday, Soon!

The 12 of us wanted to go somewhere fancy and something we never try before to celebrate the big guy's day, so Bumbu Bali it is. I guess most people know this place because it is famous for Balinese cuisine at Bandar Puteri,Puchong.
The food is quite similar to local taste so I think Malaysians would enjoy them, especially those dishes with herbs and lemongrass. As for the portion, it's rather large for most Malaysians. Some of us couldn't finish our dish, but thanks to Steven with his huge appetite, he managed to gobbled it all for us. Most dishes priced around RM20-35, quite reasonable I guess since the portion is huge. For beverages, we ordered 2 large jars of Bumbu Bali's house drink - Barley Lime. I love the taste of it that I drank 3 cups that night!

Mai and Nasi Campur Bumbu Bali (mixed rice), one of the specialties of Bumbu Bali.
It has everything in it - grilled chicken, prawns, fish fillet, minced meat, cuttlefish, rice, sauce etc.

Wan Lin, busy with her Whatsapp.

My lemongrass fish fillet.

The interior design is pretty cool and comfy, except for the super dim lights that annoyed me because I wasn't able to see my menu well, oh, maybe it's just my eye problem. Anyway, the restaurant is nicely decorated with small candles and bits and pieces of Bali, so pretty and romantic! And oh, they have these antique-feel white umbrellas that really attracts the customers. The only downfall is the lighting and oh-no-mirrors in their washroom! The management should really consider placing mirrors because some customers, like me, like to see their pretty face. Lol.

Spot the Balinese umbrellas?

The Mangoes.

I'm definitely coming back here:

Next round, at some cafe near Leisure Mall. I don't remember the name of the cafe, is it GillyCafe? Something like that. All I know that it's a popular cafe among youngsters and it's pretty crowded at night.

The birthday cake! Caramel - everybody's favorite topping.

Hope you had a great time, Soon! :)

lkc's 20th

We went to Hoi Tong Steamboat at Sri Kembangan for lkc's birthday a few weeks ago. It was our first time there except for Mai Mai who highly recommended this place. My dad used to bring the family to the seafood restaurant, which is just next to Hoi Tong, but I didn't realized that there's this steamboat/bbq buffet restaurant. They have a variety of vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood including crabs, oysters, prawns, fish, etc. The price is reasonable too! RM 26 per adult, RM13 per child. So worth it! Enough of crapping, time for pictures:

Steven, the only gentlemen who was willing to peel the prawns for us! :)

The busy girl, Jennifer.

Cook of the day? Carmen :P

So crowded.

Next round, at Coffeebox, Cheras.

We get Big Apple's instead of cake.

Can you believe that this guy is already a 20 years-old? o.O

btw,

Happy Belated Birthday LKC!

mom's birthday

Mom's birthday + Mother's day

Happy birthday mummy!
Mum's age won't be revealed here, ahahah.

Celebrated with the family at a non-fancy seafood restaurant at Petaling Jaya.
Wong Poh Restaurant's signature dish - butter cheese crabs in claypots is the best crab dish I've eaten so far! It is serve with thick and sticky butter cheese sauce that makes you go gaga. We went on Mother's Day so the restaurant was super crowded. Fortunately we were able to get a table although we didn't even make a reservation.

Sorry, I didn't capture any pictures as we were mad starving.

(picture taken from www.google.com)
This dish normally comes with fried buns and a bowl of more-cheesy thick sauce for you to dip it in.

Every crab lovers have to drop by someday for the good stuff eh?
Just remember to make reservation first to avoid disappointment.

mai's 20th

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAI!

Mai's big TWO ZERO has finally arrived on 24th April 2011. Yay! The few of us celebrated for her a week after the actual date, put the blame on me, because I went to Selangor during the weekdays. My apology. Hope she had a great one that whole day! Since she's the queen of the day, she gets to pick her favorite restaurant to dine...Grandmama's, Pavilion. The food there are good but overpriced. Well, we paid for the pleasant environment, tax, and services, so every dish is doubled the price of the usual ones you get in hawker stalls. Below are some pictures that intend to make you drool...hahah

Char Keuh Tiow. Slurrpps

Curry noodles+meehoon. Just the way I like.

Fish-head noodles. The bowl was gigantic, the dish was so-so.

And lastly, our forgotten dessert...

Banana fritters. Mai recommended this to us, the fried bananas were crunchy and they went well with vanilla ice-creams. I'm so gonna order this again when I return to Grandmama's.

Next round, dinner with KC and YH at Sakae, Taman Billion. It's just next to Kaki Corner.

Escargots, French snails.
Cheese + snails + butter = yummms

Mushroom soup in bread

Fish fillet, why is it fried like that? hmm

Chicken chop with mushroom sauce

Bolognese spaghetti

After dinner, we planned to watch Thor since YH has MBO free ticket vouchers. Plan failed. So we just walked around aimlessly in the new shopping mall,Viva and end up at Mai's to play a few round with Monopoly Deal. :)
